The principle
These stones absorb daylight and give it back at nightfall, as a soft glow. They need no cable, no transformer and no power supply. The light signature stays restrained: it underlines a line, it does not light a scene.
Where to use them
We specify them wherever a pale line in the dark makes sense:
- pool copings, to trace the outline of the water,
- terrace paving and stepping stones,
- paths leading to the entrance,
- sculpted pieces or the edges of a pond.
Why we like them
They meet three requirements of our projects. They remain mineral, and so consistent with the stone of the house. They avoid adding yet more electrical circuits to a garden. And they give a villa a discreet presence at night, without light pollution.
What to plan for
Their effect depends on exposure to daylight and on the shade chosen. We build them into the landscape plan from the design stage, with samples laid on site, to judge the real effect at nightfall.
Our partner
For this work we collaborate with LuminStone, which makes bespoke glow-in-the-dark stones for villas, hotels and architectural projects: copings, paving, paths and sculptures.
